Is een  bedevaartplaats in het departement Isère, bij Grenoble. Op 19 sept. 1846 zou Maria hier verschenen zijn aan de twee kinderen Mélanie Calvat en Maximin Giraud, resp. 15 en 11 jaar oud. Sedert 1851 wordt Maria in La Salette vereerd als O.-L.-Vrouw, Verzoenster der zondaren. Voor de zielzorg onder de pelgrims werd in 1852 een congregatie van priesters gesticht, de missionarissen van Onze Lieve Vrouw van La Salette.

Ligt in departement Isère op de linkeroever van de Rhône.
De Romaanse kerk St-Pierre is thans musée lapidaire, Gallo-Romeinse en middeleeuwse bouw- en beeldhouwfragmenten uit Vienne en omstreken. De 12de-eeuwse kruisgang van de abdijkerk St-André-le-Bas herbergt een museum van christelijke kunst. De voormalige kathedraal St-Maurice dateert in oorsprong uit de 12de eeuw.
Vienne, in oorsprong een Romeinse stad, Vienna, bezit o.m. een tempel van Augustus en Livia, 1ste eeuw n.C. en resten van een Romeins theater.
